DMC-ZX3 er udstyret med 14,1 megapixel og 25 mm ultra vidvinkel, 8x optisk zoom f/3,3-5,9 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT-objektiv (svarende til 35 mm kamera: 25-200mm) samlet i et kompakt hus. Med 25 mm vidvinkelobjektiv opnår du et ca. dobbelt så stor billedområde i forhold til et 35 mm objektiv. Den effektive 8x zoomfunktion kan også bruges til filmoptagelse. I 3 megapixel opløsningstilstand giver den ekstra optiske zoom-funktion endvidere yderligere forstørrelse, hvilket udvider zoom-området 16,9x ved hjælp af den midterste del af CCD-skærmen.
Med Intelligent Resolution (I.R) kan du tilføje høj opløsning både til dine digitale zoom-billeder og almindelige billeder. Billedet opdeles i områder for kontur, struktur og jævnhed. Der anvendes optimal billedbehandling for hver områdetype. Dette giver mulighed for 10x intelligent zoom for at opnå ca. 1,3 gange så høj zoomforstørrelse som normalt med stort set den samme billedkvalitet. Den intelligente opløsningsteknologi giver skarpe billeder ved funktioner, der benytter færre pixel for øget følsomhed og hastighed.
DMC-ZX3 kan optage HD-film på 720P i AVCHD Lite med høj lydkvalitet takket være Dolby Digital Creator. Filmfiler i JPEG-format fås også (1280 x 720 pixel). Tryk på knappen Motion Picture, så starter optagelsen. iA Mode kan også aktiveres til filmoptagelse. Når DMC-ZX3 er tilsluttet Panasonic VIERA via et valgfrit mini HDMI-kabel, kan tv’et fjernbetjening benyttes til mere praktisk afspilning.
POWER O.I.S. korrigerer næsten dobbelt så meget for håndrystelser i forhold til den konventionelle MEGA O.I.S. Så du kan tage smukke og skarpe nattebilleder. Ved at aktivere POWER O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE med ansigtsgenkendelse, Intelligent Scene Selector med Sunset Mode, Intelligent Exposure og AF Tracking gør kameraet alt arbejdet ved hjælp af iA-funktionen. Som noget nyt kan du vælge Happy Mode til DMC-ZX3, som optimerer farvemætningen og lysstyrken for levende og mindeværdige optagelser
